At 16, I was handed a Minolta X-700 from my high school photography teacher. Self-conscious and shy, this camera became all at once protective barrier and megaphone, allowing me to express myself using my sight, revealing pieces of me by sharing the beauty I witnessed.

Photography is how I communicate with the world. I aim to capture the energy and essence of a moment, the spirit of a person or of a place. I see the beauty in the person’s whole self, the way the light hits them, and how they move in the space we share.

Photographing performance, both onstage and off, is one of my passions. I am inspired by that connection between mood, movement, and expression. Capturing the relationship between it all: emotion, light, shadow, honesty, energy, essence… is the goal of my work.
